ANDREW WILLIAMS

Andy Williams, one of MLS most talented and most travelled playes came to Utah after being chosen as Real Salt Lake's first player in the Expansion draft.

A 2 time All American at URI this Canadian born Jamaican nicknamed "Bomber" went right from the fields of the Atlantic 10 conference to the 1998 World Cup as a member of the Reggae Boys emulating his father Bobby. Talk about a step up in competition.
Waiting for his return was MLS' Columbus Crew and he did not disappoint. He appeared in 13 games and finished the season with a goal and 12 assists including a stretch of seven consecutive games where he recorded an assist.

His second season with Columbus was up and down as he battled injuries and whispers that he was freezing out Brian McBride in favor of Trinidadian Stern John. He did not see much action in the playoffs and feeling out of favor with coach Tom Fitzgerald, moved to the Miami Fusion. Statistically it was not a great year but he combined well with his teammates in the offense, especially Roy Lassiter to help create one of the more unpredictable offenses. However as MLS limited the rosters, Williams became a victim of numbers as Ray Hudson brought in Alex Chacon from Honduras.

In New England he was the 2001 team MVP as he split time between Foxboro and Jamaica as tried to help the Reggae Boyz qualify for the 2002 WC.

Went to NY as part of a 6 player deal but his contract was not renewed after Bob Bradley took over at Exit 16W.

A very talented player and a member of GolNoir's All Time MLS Best Black 11 .
