After three up and down seasons in DC where he alternated between borderline brilliant and stunning mediocrity, complaints about playing time and the media glare squarely on him, Freddy Adu finally got out of DC and will don the red and blue of Real Salt Lake. There has never been any doubt where his talent is concerned, the kid, the small as he is, can still dribble and score with the best of them. Consistency and his stature have apparently been his stumbling blocks but there was also the sense that he never felt comfortable playing for Peter Nowak in DC. Reunited now with his U-17 coach, John Ellinger, Freddy will be eager to prove that DC's system was keeping him from being the dynamic star he and so many others believe he can be. 2007 will be a big season for the soon to be 18 year old.
