Clyde Simms spent his rookie professional season with the A-League Richmond Kickers where he impressed with his skills in the midfield. When it appeared that the US would use non-MLS players for their game at Trinidad and Tobago, Clyde was called into camp and impressed Bruce Arena so much that he was held over when the full National Team reported to camp.

DC United signed Clyde to a contract shortly thereafter. Not a bad start to a career for the former stand out at E. Carolina U. who hails from Jamestown, NC.
