COSTA RICA

A very solid Central American side, the "Ticos" of Costa Rica are one of the most respected sides in CONCACAF.

Quick, skillful game utilizing solid creative midfielders like Ronaldo Fonseco and Ronald Gomez. Costa Rica was unlucky not to advance out of the group stages of the 2002 World Cup. Players like Ronald Fonseca, Hernan Medford and Harold Wallace set the stage for current players like Walter Centeno and Michael Barrantes.

The Ticos can be explosive as the rest of CONCACAF found out and play very entertaining football.

BLACKS IN COSTA RICAN FOOTBALL

A country with a solid Black population, many of the Ticos stars, past and present are Black such as the afore mentioned Medford and Wallace, Maurio Wright and the most recognized Costa Rican export, Paulo Wanchope who has played in England and Spain.
