FABIO LIVERANI FIORENTINA
The first Black man to suit up for the Azzuri, Fabior Liverani made a move to Fiorentina in the summer of 2006 afte a couple of seasons with Lazio, home of some the most racist fans in Europe.
Still the defensive midfielder has been a steady in Serie A and had an outside chance of representing in Italy of the 2006 World Cup.
Fabio, son of an Italian father and Ethiopian mother recounts many racist encouters growing up but finds strength in watching Olympic flag bearer Cartlon Myers, a member of the Italian National Basketball team whose father is a Black American.
Very skilled and praised for his tactical awareness, look for Fabio to cement his place with his new side Lazio and try to impress for the upcoming Euro 2008.
