MICHAEL REIZIGER
PSV EINDHOVEN

After a solid stint at Barcelona, Michael Reizinger and a brief stop in the Premiereship, Michael Reiziger returns to Holland with PSV

A controversial signing under former coach, Louis Van Gaal, Michael Reizinger rose above the drama to become the undisputed right back for Barcelona.

When he signed for Barcelona Van Gaal moved him into the full-back position as he needed an attacking defender, capable of controlling the ball at the back, yet with the ability to get into attacking positions. Since then, the Dutchman has shown himself to be a safe player, a great marker, disciplined, quick and with the ability to organize the game in midfield.

Reiziger started his professional career at the age of 17 at Ajax. After three seasons alternating between the first and the second team, he was loaned back and forth until Van Gaal brought him back before the 1994-95 season, which turned out to be the best of his career.

Over the next couple of seasons he was part of an Ajax team that was considered the best in the world, winning domestic and European titles. In 1996 he left for AC Milan but found the going not to his liking and was signed by Barcelona.

He hasn’t looked back since and will look bring his experience to a growing PSV side.
