PATRICK KLUIVERT
NEWCASTLE

After falling out of favor with both club and country, Patrick Kluivert has returned home to the Netherlands with PSV after forgettable stints at Newcastle United and Valencia.

Once one of the world’s most talented and recognized strikers, he has won almost everything there is to win on the club level.

He joined Ajax and made his debut at the age of 18 against Dutch rivals Feyenoord in the Dutch Supercup. Even though still so young he won his first cap against the Czech Republic, and then became a regular in the Dutch national side.

With Ajax, Patrick found almost immediate success, scoring the only goal in the Champion’s League Final making Ajax European Champions for the fourth time in their history. The following season he won the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.

After a very bitter spell for AC Milan where he encountered personal problems as well as professional ones, he came to Barcelona, where in 1998/99 and immediately helped Barca win the League Championship. He had scored in double figures for Barça in each of his first 4 seasons with the Catalonian club before injuries and indifferent form derailed him

The injuries have continued to dog him and hopes some home cooking will rejuvenate him as he approaches the tail end of his career.
