ERIC ABIDAL
OLYMPIQUE LYON

This tall rugged French defender is started turning some heads since being loaned to Lille from AS Monaco in the 2002-03 season. His reward is a move to high profile Lyon when Lyon had won the previos two French Titles.

Eric started his career with Lyon Duchère in his hometown of Lyon before igning with Monaco and making his Championnat debut in 2000.

Limited playing time led to his loan to Lille where his increased visibilty has drawn comparisons to Les Bleus defender Lillian Thuram.
