Sir Alex Ferguson hopes he has another partnership like the one Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke had with the addition of this young French striker.

Louis started his career with Metz and moved to Fulham in 2000. His 27 goals and all round play helped Fulham gain promotion to the Premiership the following season and big things were expected of him.

He took a while to settle in England's top flight but in the 2003 seson he was scoring regularly and caught the attention of Manchester United who were looking for a striker to partner Ruud Van Nistelory. After a drawn out and sometimes ugly negotiation period, Louis signed with United.

Early indications are that Louis Saha is ready for the challenge.
