WILLIAM GALLAS
ARSENAL

Though not a big name player, this French born player has quickly become one of the Premiereship's better defenders, earning a place on the 2002-03 All Premiereship team as named by the players and then impressing for France at Euro2004 and the 2006 World Cup

Born in Asnieres, France, he began his career with French 2nd Division winning side Cannes before moving to Marseille. He impressed future teammate Marcel Desailly who personally recommended the young defender to former coach Clauio Ranieri.

Strong and quick, he's able to play anywhere on the backline and he looked to be Marcel Desailly's successor at Chelsea before deciding he'd enough and demanded a transfer. Arsenal, after losing Sol Campbell came calling.

A defender of international note, William Gallas starts life anew in another part of London.
