AIYEGBENI YAKUBU

After a sucessful spell with Portsmouth, striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu signed with 'Boro just after the lcose of the 2004-05 season.

Very quick and quite skilled, Yakubu signed with Portsmouth after originally arriving on loan from Israeli side Macabbi Haifi in January 2003.

After helping Pompey gain promotion to the Premiereship he scored 16 goals, including 11 in the final 10 matches to help keep Pompey in the Prem. All that and he was only 21 and had missed two weeks with Nigeria at he African Cup of Nations.

The Nigerian internaional will be a vital part of 'Boro's European aspirations.
