NICOLAS ANELKA
BOLTON

Supremely talented. So why isn't this man an international superstar?

Nicolas Anelka started his career with hometown side Paris St. Germain before being brought to Highbury by Arsenal manager Arsne Wenger in 1997. He had a decent first season but the 97/98 season was when he began to unleash his game, scoring 21 goals and helping Arsenal win the domestic double of League and FA Cup Championships.

Anelka claimed to be dissatisfied with life in London and his contract was sold to Real Madrid where he lasted exactly one season, though he scored a couple of very important goals during Real’s Champion’s League campaign.

He went back home but the move soured and he found solace at Anfield with Liverpool where he began to demonstrate the form that he hoped would land him a spot on the French World Cup team in 2002.

It did not work out and neither did the loan. he signed for newly promoted Manchester City and was been a fixture in their starting lineup but never quite became the the go to goal scorer he should have been.

A spell in Turkish football with Fenerbache came next but now the enigmatic Anelka is back in England. Fast and very skilled, only Nicholas Anelka can keep Nicholas Anelka from being a superstar.
