BARBADOS

Cricket is the #1 sport in this former British Colony and Track and Field is probably #2. But the Bajan Rockets turned the nation's attention to soccer by making it the semi final round of qualifying for the 2002 World Cup and further raised hopes by beating Costa Rica who would eventually go on to the World Cup. Although it went steadily down hill from there, including 7-0 loss away to the United States, this tiny and sometimes cash strapped island have established themselves as a team to watch in upcoming Caribbean tournaments.

Bottom line:
Cricket is the preferred sport in this country but they've shown themselves to be capable on the football field and it will be interesting to see if the Barbados Football Association decides to make the effort and investment in the future of the program.
