MOROCCO

The fortunes of Moroccan football has changed dramatically over the past 8 years.

They showed great promise with a respectable showing at the 1998 World Cup when led by Mustapha Hadji but suddenly dropped to mediocrity at the turn of the century. For those predicting a return to the the days when Morooco was force in African football featuring stars like Badou Ezaki the loss of form was confounding.

Ezaki took over the team and has led the Atlas Lions back to greatness as eveidenced by their form at the 2004 African Cup of Nations. Morocco has suddenly become a team on the rise.

out of favor with the Moroccon coaching
staff. He's now concentrating on his
club career. (BBC)

THE CURRENT SQUAD

While Mustapha Hadjii appears to be out of the picture, his younger brother Youseff has taken up the slack. Morocco also relies on the steady Norredine Naybet in defense.

Nourredine Naybet has earned over 100 caps for Morocco
and plays his club football at Tottenham

Bottom line: The Atlas Lions' appear to have reversed their drop to mediocrity . It'll be interesting to see how they respond to this sudden reversal of fortune.
